Chapter 4 Diagnosis Modes
Scale
Tap the Scale button on the touch screen to use. Tapping ‘+’ of the Scale button makes the PRF
(Pulse Repetition Frequency) increase, displaying a wider range of blood ow speed; tapping ‘-’
decreases the PRF, displaying a narrower range of blood ow speed.
Maps
Congure the post curve in a color image. Tap the Maps button on the touch screen to display
blood ow with greater clarity.
Filter
Select a value from 1 to 4 by using the Filter button on the touch screen.
This is an electric lter for removing the low-frequency Doppler signals generated by the
movement of blood vessel walls. Adjust the Cuto Frequency to remove Doppler signals whose
frequency is lower than the cuto frequency from the screen.
Baseline
Press the ‘ / ‘ buttons of Baseline to adjust the baseline. In Color Doppler mode, the color bar
indicates the direction and speed of blood ow. Based on the baseline at the middle, red indicates
the direction and speed of blood ow toward the probe. By contrast, the blue color indicates the
direction and speed of blood ow away from the probe.
Line Density
Select the density of scan lines. Tapping the touch screen button incrementally changes the line
density.
Selecting higher line density increases the number of scan lines, resulting in higher image
resolution at the expense of lower frame rate.
Balance
Use the Balance button’s ‘-/+’ buttons to select the Balance value. The range of a color image
is adjusted by comparing the gray levels of 2D images with the Doppler signal values of color
images. When the Balance value increases, the color image also appears in the part where the gray
level of a 2D image is high (the bright part), increasing the range of the color image.
Invert
Tap Invert on the touch screen. Tapping the button inverts the color bar; inverting the color bar
also inverts the color displayed on screen.
