Cleaning
Cleaning is an important procedure that should be carried out before disinfecting the probe. The
probe must be cleaned after each use.
CAUTION:
X
Do not use a surgical brush when cleaning probes. Even the use of soft brushes can damage the
probe.
X
While cleaning and disinfecting, keep the parts of the probe that must remain dry higher than
other parts during the drying process. This will help prevent liquid from entering unsealed areas
of the probe.
1. Disconnect the probe from the system.
2. Remove any biopsy adapters or biopsy needle guides. (Biopsy adapters are re-usable after
disinfection).
3. Discard sheaths. (Sheaths are single-use items).
4. Use a soft cloth lightly moistened with mild soap or a compatible cleaning solution to remove any
particulate matter and body uid that remain on the probe or cable.
5. To remove any remaining particulates, rinse with water up to the immersion point.
6. Wipe with a dry cloth.
7. If needed, wipe rst with a cloth moistened in water to remove soap residue, and then wipe with
a dry cloth again.
